The whole pipeline runs on your phone.
Speech to text, the model, her voice and her memory. Every step is local, with no API keys and nothing you say sent to a server.
Whisper turns your voice notes into text on the phone.
Poppys 0.6B, our own fine-tuned model, run by llama.cpp.
Kokoro speaks her replies, one voice per character.
Kept in the app's own storage, encrypted by iOS. Only on consent.
Crisis signals are detected on-device, with helplines one tap away.

We are designing a small companion device: something you keep on a desk or clip to a bag, that greets you, listens and talks back, with no phone in between. Think of the pocket pets you grew up with, except she remembers your day.

What is Poppys?
Poppys is an AI companion app. You pick one of six characters, text or send voice notes, and she replies in her own voice. She remembers what matters to you, with your consent.
Does my conversation leave my phone?
No. Speech recognition, the language model, her voice and her memory all run on your phone. The app downloads its models once, then works offline.
How do I get it?
Poppys is in public beta on iPhone through Apple TestFlight. Install TestFlight, open the invite link on this page, and tap Accept. Android is in closed testing.
Is it free?
Yes. The beta is free, with no account required.
Is Poppys a therapist?
No. Poppys is a companion, not a medical or mental health service. If someone is in crisis, the app recognises it on-device and shows local helplines.
What is the Poppys device?
A small, always-on hardware companion we are designing: a screen, a speaker and the same on-device model, with no phone needed. It is a concept today, not a product for sale.
